As I previously mentioned, I really like what you can do with High Dynamic Range Images (HDRI) and Exposure Blending. It seems, Spiegel-Online thinks the same ;-) [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

And since my page stats claim that I am not the only one interested in open source tools for this kind of stuff, I wanted to share with you this tool, which is able to create and tonemap HDR images: QTPFSGUI.

QTPFSGUI is basically designed to be an open source replacement for Photomatix. Still “work in progress”, but already good enough for some experimenting.

But be warned, tonemapping comes with half a dozen algorithms, each with >3 sliders to adjust settings and I for my part don’t know how to use them effectively, so far:

On the other hand, tools like krita or gimp might integrate HDR.

    zeig mir doch mal bitte Deine HDR’s die Du gemacht hast. Das interessiert mich sehr. Im übrigen gibts in der nächstmonatigen DigitalpHOTO einen HDR-Relaunch, sehr interessant ;)
